Richard L. Kronenthal, Ph.D.
Chief Scientific Officer, Founder
Dr. Kronenthal formerly headed the Ethicon, Inc., (the Johnson & Johnson wound closure care company) R&D Division, where he was responsible for developing the Vicryl® suture line. In 1980, he received the prestigious Johnson Medal for Research and Development for accomplishments leading to the successful marketing of novel surgical products, having accumulated sales measured in billions of dollars. After retiring from Ethicon, Dr. Kronenthal has served as a consultant for more than 40 corporations, venture capital investors and institutions in the health care field. He has also served on several scientific advisory boards and as a board member for several companies. Dr. Kronenthal has authored 15 publications and holds 20 U.S. patents in the chemical and health care fields. His Doctorate in Organic Chemistry was awarded by Polytechnic Institute of New York where he later taught organic chemistry. Dr. Kronenthal founded ORTHOCON® in 2005.
